Name: Eridan Ampora
Canon: Homestuck
Timeline: Post death.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: This is only to be used if are already playing another character from the canon you are applying for. For example, if you are apping Mario and you already play Princess Peach in the game, how will you handle their interactions without playercesting? Depending on your answer, you may be refused the character you are apping for.
Personality: Eridan is the Aquarius seatroll out of the twelve zodiac-themed trolls. He's the second highest blood color, second to the Heiress Apparent (Feferi) and was even moirails with her for the longest time. He takes his high status as one of the reasons to be as he is. He's completely pompous and stuck-up and puts up a wall around everyone, until he's confronted and it is brought down faster than someone drenching cotton candy in water.
He has certain interests, just as every other troll. He's a bit of a history buff, reading and taking to liking stories from past historical leaders, conquerors and militia leaders. The good thing is, hey, he's pretty god damned interesting. Another thing that's not good about this? Well, he's revered as a bit of a complete tool around his friends. This likeness for history and all that has also influenced his FLARP character. He has modeled his character after Orphaner Dualscar, and even took to his job in a way. His (now ex) kismesis, Vriska (Whom had taken to modeling her own character after Dualscar's own Kismesis - Miss Marquise Spinneret Mindfang) would campaign with Eridan, collecting victims of their games to either Feferi's Lusus (who was fed the lusii) and Vriska's Lusus (who took the trolls) to keep them both happy.
Another thing that he has taken fondness for is wizards and wizardly pariphinalea. The ironic part about this, despite the fact that he does in fact enjoy these things, is that he is a firm believer in magic not being real. They are not real, and you cannot convince him other-wise. It is not magic, but it is science. YEAH.
He hates land dwellers, as expected of a highblood seatroll. As far back as the two races have been in existance, it is of their nature to have this rivalry to each other. Eridan, however, takes this to an extreme. He's considerably genocidic, and he constantly plotted to kill them all in some way. He had already began this dream by being tied in with Feferi. Her lusus had requireddaily sacrifices feedings, and of course, they needed big game to feed a monstrocity. Other fauna. He doesn't enjoy conversing with land trolls if he can, only employing actual help from two of them in particular, and just speaking to the rest of them as a higher up. Which is... humorous to say, considering that his hive was located above the seas.
But that's implying that he actually thinks everything through. Sometimes, his mind goes to impulse thinking. STOP BEING MOIRAIL, TRY TO MAKE MATESPRIT. DESTROY HOPE, JOIN JACK, everything will be great in the end. We all know how those plans worked out. But hey, guess what that means? More reasons to use theatrics and all that. It's perfect in his eyes. Also things that he doesn't think through that makes him as he is: He is not a cassanova, oh no. NOOO NO No hafhasda no. He is absolutely terrible with quadrants (we saw what happened with Feferi, and it just went downhill as he went through the game.), especially coupled with his thickheaded nature to take whatever he can with the highblood theatrics-driven attitude he has. Whenever this fails, guess what? More theatrics, more FEELINS. More PROBLEMS he has.
He can also show himself to be completely shut off to the world. To his mind, you cannot show weakness to anyone at all. It's partially due to his massively inflated ego, which is unfortunately because of his fondness of all of the stories he had read in the sweeps prior. It's part of this facade that he puts up. He is the big bad sea dweller, he is above the others for a reason. He is incredibly stubborn whenever it comes to getting something that he desires, and he will take it in any way, shape, or form.
Another thing is, his own self-image, while it is the biggest thing that he does attempt to show, he's... not really that confident in his own self. The wall that he places up between himself and his peers can be easily crumbled. His life can be imagined as his emotions ruling him at times. He is a seadweller, and prone to having a bit more of an arrogant and high and mighty personality and may come off as a tool, but he certainly can show that he is not. In a normal situation, he is fine to back into his own corner and shove emotions around and not believe anything other than what he believes is right, but upon being confronted as stated before, the wall is down. He is ruled by emotions, he will be quick to become dramatic to prove a point. He can also show that he is not actually a complete tool, even within regards to lower bloods. Whenever he spoke to Gamzee in an attempt to find Karkat whenever Feferi had broken up with him, he had actually felt a bit bad for Karkat about Sollux dying. He does hate land dwellers, and he does believe that they do deserve to die, but he's not going to not feel bad for one of his friend's friends deaths.
